Nook
Line them up, stack them, or even combine them!
Inspired by the sofa gap phenomenon
If you've ever watched a toddler try to jam toys into a couch cushion or fit a spoon inside a cup, you’ve seen the kind of thinking that inspired Nook. We noticed children aren’t always looking for a perfect match—they’re searching for that just-right fit. A satisfying press. A subtle resistance. A little "pop" that tells them they nailed it.
So we designed Nook to give them exactly that sense of satisfaction.
Gentle resistance, real satisfaction
The base is made from soft silicone, offering the perfect level of squish. Too loose? Boring. Too tight? Frustrating. But when it’s just right, toddlers light up. They push. They succeed. They want to do it again—and again.
6 parts, 9 spots—freedom to explore
Nook includes 6 tactile parts and 9 open spaces. Why not match one-to-one? Because toddlers don’t need limits. By leaving space open, we invite swapping, stacking, and endless combinations. It’s trial and error at its best.
Abstract pieces for imaginative play
The parts might remind you of bottles, cups, or containers—but they’re not replicas. Their vague familiarity invites toddlers to assign their own meaning. One day it’s a bowl. The next day, a phone. Or a hat. The possibilities are as open as their imagination.
Mix & match across the series
All parts from the 1curiosity series—Nook, Lantern, and Carousel—are interchangeable. This means even more ways to experiment, combine, and invent. It’s open-ended play taken to the next level.
Designed with care, tested by real children
Each part is perfectly sized for small hands. Easy to grab. Easy to switch. Easy to squeeze. We chose everyday materials—silicone, plastic, stainless steel—so children can explore real-world textures safely and confidently.
No instructions. No wrong answers.
You don’t have to teach them how to play. Just hand them Nook, and let them go. They’ll figure it out—because it was designed for how they already play.
Safe, soft, and fully washable
All parts are baby-safe and built for real use. When playtime gets messy (as it should), you can take everything apart and wash it thoroughly.
For the stage after baby toys, but before ABCs
Once toddlers outgrow rattles and soft blocks, they’re often pushed toward "learning toys." But before numbers and letters, there’s a phase of life where children are deeply curious about everything. Nook was made for that moment—turning everyday wonder into hands-on discovery.
Designed in Japan
Each toy in the 1curiosity series is thoughtfully researched, designed, and developed in Japan—with a deep respect for how toddlers naturally explore the world.
